Supporting Bromo Tengger Semeru KSPN Development, Ministry Of PUPR Builds Seruni Tourism Terminal

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) plans to build the Seruni Point Tourist Terminal which is integrated with a glass suspension bridge.

This is done as an effort to support the development of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) in East Java Province.

The development of the Seruni Point Tourist Terminal was motivated by the many complaints from tourists about the lack of toilets in the Bromo area and the frequent long traffic jams on the Bromo route during the holiday season.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said infrastructure development at each KSPN is planned in an integrated manner, including regional planning, roads, supply of raw and clean water, waste management, sanitation, and improvement of residential areas through a master plan for infrastructure development.

"For tourism areas, the infrastructure must first be repaired, then amenities and events, then a massive promotion. If it is not ready, tourists will come once and will not come back again. That is what we have to take care of properly," he said in an official statement, Friday, June 24.

"The principle is to change the face of the region quickly, in an integrated manner, and have an impact on the local and national economy," he continued.

Later, Basuki said, the construction of the Seruni Point Tourist Terminal will be carried out by the East Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center, Directorate General of Human Settlements, Ministry of PUPR through a plan to arrange the Seruni Point area.

"The construction is carried out in an area of 1.75 hectares with a budget of Rp31.17 billion," he said.

Basuki explained that the arrangement of Seruni Point will include the construction of a parking area, multifunctional building for restaurants, commercial rest areas, souvenir shops, toilets, prayer rooms, visitor lanes, ticket buildings, as well as an amphitheater that supports local arts and cultural activities.

"The arrangement of the Seruni Point public space pays attention to the characteristics and local wisdom of the Tengger Tribe culture, one of which is by applying the Tiga Bentar concept to the arrival area," he said.

Integrated with Glass Suspension Bridge

Basuki also explained that the Seruni Point tourist terminal will later be integrated with the first suspended-cable type glass suspension bridge in Indonesia which is currently being built in the Seruni Point area.

"This glass bridge stretches 120 meters long and 1.8 meters wide above a ravine with a depth of about 80 meters. The suspension bridge structure is a layered safety glass with a thickness of 25.55 mm, equipped with double protection steel in the form of galvanized steel to prevent rust," he said.

According to Basuki, the arrangement and development carried out by the PUPR Ministry in maximizing the potential of the Bromo Tengger Semeru KSPN and all its natural wealth was carried out with great care and still consider environmental, social, cultural and economic aspects.

"Coordination and public consultations continue to be carried out intensively with stakeholders such as the Probolinggo Regency Government, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, environmental communities, and community leaders starting from the planning, implementation and supervision stages in the field to prevent negative impacts on the environment and are expected to improve the local economy. ," he said.
