Bappenas Supports Socio-Economic Transformation Through Industrialization

JAKARTA - The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Ministry of PPN/Bappenas) supports the social and economic transformation of Indonesia through the industrialization sector.

Deputy for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, said this was one of the prerequisites for Indonesia to reach a developed country before 2045.

"Bapennas is holding the Indonesia Development Forum (IDF) 2022, coincidentally the theme we raised this year was industrialization. How industrialization can support social and economic transformation, because industrialization is one of the prerequisites so that we can reach a developed country before 2045," Amalia said, quoted from Antara, Friday, June 10.

After going through the COVID-19 pandemic since 2020, Indonesia has one big strategy to industrialize so that the Indonesian economy can become stronger.

"If we learn from other countries that have escaped and managed to get out of the middle income trap, they have passed the industrialization phase. For example, South Korea, then there was the United States and there were several other countries that we used as benchmarks, they must have passed the industrialization phase," he said.

Amalia revealed that the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas has a strategy to support Indonesia's economic transformation, including human capital, increased productivity, green economy, digital, domestic economic integration, and relocation of the archipelago's capital city (IKN).

In addition, said Amalia, industrialization is a very important sector because it is one of the drivers of increasing productivity.

With the increase in productivity, said Amalia, one way to increase Indonesia's economic growth in the long term.

"Regarding productivity, one of them is through industrialization, so industrialization is important, not only can we create quality jobs, but industrialization is also an effort to encourage increased productivity," he concluded.
