JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has launched an electrifying tourism program by providing reliable electrical energy to boost the performance of the regional tourism sector.

General Manager of PLN Main Unit for Maluku and North Maluku Region (UIW MMU), Adams Yogasara said that PLN has the spirit to build the world of Indonesian tourism. For this reason, PLN provides support with easier, affordable and reliable electricity services.

"So it's not only in the agricultural sector but also in the fisheries and marine sectors. But we are also ready to realize electrifying tourism in Maluku to North Maluku," said Adams in his official statement, Friday, May 27.

Adams added, seeing the tourism potential on Magaliho Island, PLN plans to provide support in the form of using cleaner energy for every activity on Magaliho Island.

"In the future, we will also encourage the implementation of an electrifying lifestyle on Magaliho Island, such as the use of induction cookers and other all-electric equipment on Magaliho Island," he explained.

PLN's support to encourage tourism in Halmahera has been felt by local businesses. One of them is Syiti Hazzar Dwi Lusiana, owner of a resort on Magaliho Island, North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province.

Syiti can now smile with relief seeing the sparkling lights illuminating her resort at night. The reason is, PLN has provided a new installation of electricity with a total power of 11,000 Volt Ampere (VA) for its resorts.

"Previously, visitors' activities at night were very limited because there was no electricity. So our resort was only open until the afternoon. With the inclusion of PLN electricity, we were greatly helped and the people around were very happy because now tourists can visit at night," he said.

Syiti said that tourists who want to come to Magaliho Island have been using boat transportation belonging to the community in Mawea Village, North Tobelo District.

"If tourists get more crowded, then the community will also feel the impact," he said.

Currently, Magaliho Island is one of the new tourist attractions that have emerged in North Halmahera Regency.

This uninhabited island has its own uniqueness, namely clear sea water, and beautiful photo spots with a row of other small islands around it.

"We are very grateful for the inclusion of PLN electricity on Magaliho Island. With the support of PLN electricity, hopefully it can increase tourist visits to Magaliho Island, so that it can improve the economy and people's welfare," added Syiti.
