JAKARTA - PT Federal International Finance (FIFGROUP) this year completed the installation of solar panels, after the inauguration of installations in two branches, namely the Jakarta and Padang branches following the previous five branches in 2022 and one branch in 2019 with a total of 86.4 kWp.

"With the installation in two branch locations, namely Jakarta and Padang, now the number of branches that have used solar panels has increased to seven this year after the Yogyakarta, Semarang, Cirebon, Bandung and Depok branches which were also carried out in 2019 at the Pamulang Branch, so that to 8 branches in total with an overall capacity of 86.4 kWp," said Human Capital (HC), General Support (GS), and Corporate Communication (CorComm) Director of FIFGROUP, Esther Sri Harjati in a written statement, Saturday, May 21.

According to Esther, by installing this solar panel, FIFGROUP wants to contribute to reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions which are the main factors causing climate change.

Referring to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the average solar energy from solar radiation that can be obtained in the two regions, namely Jakarta and West Sumatra, reaches 2.56 – 4.15 kWh/m2 which has the potential to produce energy of around approx. of 100 thousand gigawatt-peak (GWp).

With this potential, he said, the installation of solar panels was chosen to be one of the power plants with New Renewable Energy (EBT) that could reduce the cost of using electricity. The installation of solar panels in the Jakarta and Padang branches can reduce the cost of electricity usage by IDR 1.6 – 2 million per month.

This is because, solar panels are installed using an on-grid system. Through this system, solar panels are connected to the State Electricity Company (PLN) network.

The excess power generated by the solar panels will be sent to the grid to further reduce the cost of electricity bills.

In addition to reducing the cost of electricity bills, the installation of solar panels is also part of environmental conservation activities by reducing carbon dioxide emissions in FIFGROUP's business operations.

This activity is also a sustainability program launched by FIFGROUP to support the implementation of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG), which is an operational standard instrument in measuring the impact and sustainability of an institutional investment.

On the same occasion, Finance Director of FIFGROUP, Hugeng Gozali, said that the inauguration of the installation of solar panels in the Jakarta and Padang Branches is expected to support FIFGROUP's business operations which are more environmentally friendly.

"That way, the implementation of ESG to achieve the SDGs program can be realized properly," he added.

If calculating the conversion of energy use with the resulting emissions, he continued, the use of solar panels that have been carried out in 8 FIFGROUP branches with a total installed capacity of 86.4 kWp can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 69.2 tons-CO2-equivalent.

"If we assume that the installation of solar panels with a capacity of 86.4 KWp is intended for homes with government subsidized electricity having a power of 450 watts, then the solar panels are capable of supplying electricity to 24 homes or the equivalent of 12 houses having a power of 900 watts. used for homes with a power capacity of 1,300 watts, solar panels with that capacity can supply electricity to 66 homes," concluded Hugeng.
