BI Aceh Affirms That Exchange Of Money Is Free Of Charge, But Does Not Deny There Are Parties Who Seek Profits: Exchange Of IDR 100,000 Must Pay IDR 110,000

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) Aceh Representative emphasized that the process of exchanging small money in the context of welcoming Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah at banking institutions is free of charge.

"There is no charge for exchanging small money at banks, please come to the bank," said Head of BI Aceh Representative Achris Sarwani, in Banda Aceh, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, April 19.

Achris does not deny that there are certain parties who seek to benefit from this condition, for example if there are people who exchange small money of Rp. 100 thousand, they are only given Rp. 90 thousand, or have to pay Rp. 110 thousand.

"We are worried that there will be something like that, and we will fight it because there is no resale, there is no money exchange fee, if an exchange of Rp. 100,000 has a fee of Rp. 10,000," he said.

Achris advised bank employees not to take advantage of this condition, especially to ordinary people who do not really understand this process.

He also appealed to the public to be able to directly exchange their money at the bank, so that no one can take advantage of this condition to seek profit.

"Please come to the bank, we and banks throughout Aceh support, some money you want to exchange. Don't use services and come directly to the bank, it's better," said Achris.

To note, in order to welcome the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri, Bank Indonesia in collaboration with banks throughout Aceh and PT Pos Indonesia has again provided small denomination money exchange services to the people of Aceh from April 4 to 29, 2022.

BI and banks throughout Aceh are committed to improving cash payment system services in anticipation of the increasing demand for money in the community in the upcoming months of Ramadan and Eid.

This activity is Bank Indonesia's commitment to meet the need for rupiah currency in sufficient quantities, appropriate denominations, and in a condition fit for circulation.
