Aceh Police Unload 1,500 Liters Of Subsidized Fuel Stockpiles, Hiswana Migas: Illegal Fuel Mafia Is Increasingly Troubling

JAKARTA - The Aceh National Oil and Gas Entrepreneurs Association (Hiswana Migas) has urged the Aceh Police to dismantle the subsidized fuel mafia that has been stockpiling oil illegally in the area.

“So far, the existence of these illegal BBM mafias has hardly been touched by the law. They exist, but are very difficult to uncover. It is an open secret that their actions have taken place," said Head of Hiswana Migas Aceh Nahrawi Noerdin, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 15.

For information, the Aceh Police have just unloaded 1,500 liters of subsidized fuel that was stockpiled in a warehouse in Aceh Besar District and allegedly belonged to individual TNI soldiers.

Then the personnel of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Banda Aceh Police also arrested two perpetrators and secured a truck with a modified fuel tank with a capacity of up to three tons.

Nahrawi appreciated the police force who had succeeded in dismantling the illegal BBM mafia network in Aceh.

"The existence of the illegal BBM mafia so far is quite disturbing. Thank you for this law enforcement action, which we have been waiting for for a long time, and we hope it will not stop," he said.

Nahrawi also thanked the Aceh Regional Police for establishing an enforcement task force and complaint post both at the Regional Police and District/City Police in Aceh regarding the distribution of subsidized fuel.

"This step is very strategic and historic for law enforcement in Aceh, especially in taking action against perpetrators of illegal fuel crimes," said Nahrawi.

According to Nahrawi, what the police have done today has really become a breath of fresh air for law enforcement against illegal fuel crimes in Aceh. "Hopefully in the near future we can uncover the existence of the BBM mafia," he said.

"Because we really hope that all subsidized fuel in Aceh can be distributed properly and on target to those who are entitled. God willing, this can be realized," he said.
