The Most Crucial Land Sector, The Ministry Of Transportation Prepares Three Traffic Engineering Schemes For Eid Al-Fitr In 2022

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has prepared three traffic engineering schemes that will be implemented during the 2022 Lebaran homecoming period.

"From what we discussed earlier, it has been stated that we have three types of scenarios. It can be carried out starting on the 28th, or it could be the 25th," said Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi after chairing a coordination meeting "Movement Simulation and Peak Anticipation" Traffic Flow on Toll Roads During the 2022 Eid Al-Fitr Homecoming Period," Antara quoted, Friday, April 15.

The Minister of Transportation conveyed the three traffic engineering, namely contra flow, one way, and odd-even application on toll roads.

He said the land sector was a crucial point in handling the smooth flow of going back and forth for Lebaran. Based on a survey conducted by Balitbanghub, about 47 percent of the 85.5 million people who are predicted to go home will use land routes, both private vehicles (cars and motorcycles) and land transportation (buses and ferry transportation or others).

"We admit that Cipali or from Jakarta to Semarang are the most vulnerable areas, so traffic engineering is needed," said the Minister of Transportation.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transportation said that his party continues to carry out accurate simulation calculations in line with conditions on the ground.

He also asked stakeholders to be able to formulate technically related to traffic engineering, so that it could be recommended to President Joko Widodo.

"This is because at this time it is possible not only people who go home to travel but also those who travel. Therefore, anticipation and good handling solutions are needed," he said.

The Minister of Transportation stated that he would continue to improve coordination and socialization of the 2022 homecoming policy, to related elements, including the Korlantas Polri and local governments, to ensure there is a common perception regarding travel requirements, traffic control, and other policies.
