JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto Hartarto officially opened the Jakarta International Motor Show (IIMS) Hybrid 2022 automotive exhibition which was held at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta.

In his remarks, Airlangga said an agenda like this has the potential to accelerate the recovery of the automotive sector in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“On behalf of the President, I would like to convey the message that he would like to extend his greetings and congratulations to all the organizers and exhibitors. This activity can be a forum for industrial growth so that it can recover faster," he said in an official statement, quoted Friday, April 1.

According to Airlangga, the automotive sector is getting better, supported by various government policies, one of which is the relaxation of the Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (PPnBM). He explained that until February 2022 the realization of PPnBM incentives had reached Rp. 15.8 billion.

Airlangga also said that the government continues to encourage the acceleration of electric vehicles in the country through a number of regulations. One of them is through Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019 concerning the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle (KBL) Acceleration Program for Road Transportation.

"This regulation regulates various fiscal and non-fiscal incentive bases for accelerating the industrialization of Battery-Based KBLs," he said.

Then, there is also the provision of 0 percent PPnBM for electric vehicles that meet the Domestic Component Level (TKDN).

“This year's IIMS can be an event for automotive companies to present various technological innovations. In addition, this event can be a forum for middle-income people who want to own a vehicle,” he continued.

The exhibition agenda itself is scheduled to take place from today until April 10, 2022. Visitors can come directly to the location or through virtual channels provided by the organizing committee.
