JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir has just inaugurated the Brain and Heart Hospital (RSOJ) in Makassar, South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi). Erick appreciated the hard work of the BUMN hospital holding, Pertamedika IHC, which successfully completed the construction of the first RSOJ in Eastern Indonesia.

The hospital, named Pertamina Royal Biringkanaya Hospital, said Erick, is one of the efforts made by the government in realizing health resilience in Indonesia.

"Pertamedika IHC's Pertamina Royal Biringkanaya Hospital is the holding company for a state-owned hospital in improving national health resilience by providing easy access for the people of Eastern Indonesia," Erick said at the inauguration of the RSOJ on Wednesday, March 30.

Furthermore, Erick said that the construction of the hospital, which has all service standards and type B facilities, was completed within 8 months from July 2021.

This RSOJ, said Erick, occupies an area of 5,705 square meters with a building area of 11,389 square meters consisting of one main building and one supporting building.

Erick also explained that Pertamina Royal Biringkanaya RSOJ is in a strategic location which is a new development area of Makassar city and is only about 8 Kilometers from Makassar Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport.

"This makes it easier for various levels of society both from within and outside the country to come for treatment," said Erick.

BUMN is committed to improving the health sector by providing health services with the best standards. This departs from the fact that around 600 thousand Indonesians have been seeking treatment abroad.

Furthermore, Erick said that the number of visits by Indonesian people for treatment abroad had decreased drastically due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, said Erick, this condition must be a momentum in improving health service standards.

"The goal is that people no longer need to go abroad for treatment," he said.

Apart from Makassar, Erick plans to establish an RSOJ in Bandar Lampung City, Lampung Province. Even so, he will see the location first before realizing the construction of the brain and heart hospital.
