Customers And DPR Expect WanaArtha To Return To Operation

JAKARTA - The policyholders or customers of PT Asuransi Jiwa Adisarana WanaArtha or WanaArtha Life and the Council hope that the WanaArtha issue can be resolved and resume operations properly. They hope that the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the judiciary can help WanaArtha Life return funds to its customers, policyholders and try to return after more than two years of inactivity.

Wanaartha's business continuity is considered important to evoke the insurance investment climate in the country, as well as to demonstrate complete justice for all parties. OJK should implement the restructuring, and even give Wanaartha Life time to find new investors.

"OJK should help Wanaartha Life restructure. If it can help Wanaartha Life, it can get investors and others," said one of Wanaartha Life's customers, Santy, to reporters, Wednesday, March 30.

Santy really hopes that OJK will guarantee that it will cooperate with Wanaartha on restructuring matters. This is important to do by OJK because it is also related to the function of consumer protection.

"The OJK should issue a statement, don't be silent. If we talk about the time limit for the cassation decision of 315 days from the decision at the first instance, it's still too long. Now between policyholders, there are those who want to take legal steps themselves, some are waiting passively, we are scattered Very vulnerable, for example, someone wants to take advantage of it," he complained.

On the other hand, he also asked the judge to grant the opening of the account blocking which is currently in the cassation stage. The hope is that Wanaartha Life can operate again, so that it can make refunds to customers or policyholders.

"Don't forget that a lot of people's fate will be decided later. There are also elderly, who are also sick, some are saving all of them in Wanaartha Life. When I see it, Wanaartha Life's account is completely confiscated, it can't operate," he said.

Another Wanaartha Life policyholder, Stephanie, also said the same thing. He hopes the court of cassation will give a decision that favors the customer. He and other Wanaartha Life customers have proven that their policies are legally valid.

"We also bought Wanaartha Life insurance products because of the OJK label. For fraudulent investment cases, there is no OJK label. The OJK also said that buying investment products with OJK labels. Apparently, the OJK label is also not safe," said the customer who work as a teacher.

As far as he knows, OJK has a function to supervise, check, and ensure that companies under OJK run in accordance with OJK regulations. If there is a wrong procedure carried out by Wanaartha Life, then OJK should have been able to prevent it from the start, and he believes the company will fix it.

One thing is certain, he said, there must be fair treatment and solutions given to Wanaartha customers who only buy insurance products. “The solution still has to be real, there is a refund. Because Indra Kenz was confiscated, the trading robot was confiscated, where did the money go? Yes, please return it to the rightful owner, the rightful owner," he said.

Council urge

The Council also voiced the same thing. Member of the House of Representatives Commission XI, Vera Febyanthy, confirmed that her party had repeatedly held meetings with the OJK regarding the WanaArtha issue. According to him, the account blocking should be canceled so that the customer's money can be returned.

"Just return the customer's money, solve the problem if it is blocked. It should be opened, returned to the customer," Vera said on a different occasion.

According to him, the House of Representatives Commission XI has appealed and asked OJK to resolve the WanaArtha case.

"Well, the OJK said it was still in the examination stage, but we'll just have to wait and see what the results will be. Moreover, the court has won legally, we just have to see what follows," he explained.

His party admitted that he would continue to emphasize this to the OJK to help complete this case. In fact, this will also be reminded again when there is an election for the OJK commissioner board later.

"We demand that this case be resolved quickly, because the old demisioner (OJK) will soon be gone. It doesn't mean that the problems at the old OJK will disappear, no. Institutionally must remain responsible for participating in solving the case," said Vera.

A member of Commission XI of the DPR, Wihadi Wiyanto, said the same thing. All parties, he said, should respect the court's decision, including the Attorney General's Office.

"So in this case the blocks must be opened by the Prosecutor's Office immediately," he explained.

Wihadi views the opportunity for Wanaartha to get investors to remain open. Moreover, Wanaartha has stated that the court has no criminal connection with the Jiwasraya case.

"Of course the customer must also be paid when it is due, so there is legal certainty here (for WanaArtha) and legal certainty for customers as well," he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Executive Director of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) Eko Listiyanto said the case experienced by Wanaartha Life should serve as an illustration for OJK to tighten its supervision.

"This is under the OJK, the OJK must concentrate more on insurance," he said.
