Tourism Awareness Group Needs Human Resources Development, Sandiaga Uno: To Maximize The Potential Of Tourism Villages

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said the development of human resources (HR) is one of the obstacles that many Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis) face in the region.

Therefore, his party held the Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) in 2022 by adding one category as an effort to encourage human resource development, namely village institutions.

"This is expected to trigger an increase in the managers of village institutions, including Pokdarwis," he said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 27.

On that occasion, he listened directly to the aspirations and obstacles faced by Pokdarwis administrators in nine regencies/cities in West Sumatra in developing the tourism sector and the creative economy, especially related to tourist villages.

According to the Menparekraf, the development of superior human resources in the regions which is one of the obstacles will be resolved by collaborating between various parties, including other ministries/agencies.

He emphasized that the existence of superior human resources is aimed at maximizing the various potentials in tourist villages in a quality and sustainable manner.

On this occasion, Sandiaga also invited the managers of tourist villages in West Sumatra to participate in the ADWI 2022 event.

Until now, West Sumatra is said to be the province with the most number of tourist villages in the tourist village network (Jadesta) or a site for community facilities and a forum for tourism village managers in Indonesia.

"Almost 300 tourist villages have been registered in Jadesta," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.

One of the administrators of the West Sumatra Pokdarwis, Yuliza, conveyed four things that became the main obstacles to boosting the potential of Pokdarwis when she was still active as an activist.

One of them is about the difficulty of finding human resources and inadequate tourist village facilities and infrastructure. Therefore, Yuliza expects support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to present various HR development programs in the regions as well as support for the improvement of tourist villages.
