JAKARTA - The leak of the Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) has occurred again. After previously occurring at Sorik Merapi Peak, Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra, another leak occurred at the Geo Dipa PLTP in the Dieng area, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java, on Saturday, March 12.

Member of Commission VII DPR RI Sartono regretted the recurrence of the leak that killed one person and treated eight others in hospital.

"We are of course very sorry for this incident to happen again. I hope that the government, in this case the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) will carry out comprehensive supervision, strict supervision throughout all geothermal power plants so that this leakage does not happen again," said Sartono in his official statement. quoted Tuesday 15 March.

He believes that in fact every project, especially PLTP, has a clear SOP (standard operation on procedure). The aim is of course to anticipate the occurrence of unwanted events.

"Including the anticipation of accidents. And if now this happens, of course there are SOPs that have been violated," he added.

Therefore, he encourages the ranks of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to always carry out comprehensive and continuous evaluation and supervision in the field. Be it supervision per month, per quarter or per semester.

"If it has caused casualties, of course this is the domain of the authorities to investigate the cause, as well as find out who should be responsible for this incident. This is a warning for geothermal industry players to always prioritize prudence in working, implementing SOPs and carry out routine monitoring," he continued

Meanwhile, in a press statement, PT Geo Dipa Persero stated that it was ready to be responsible for work accidents that occurred at the Dieng Unit 1 geothermal power plant in Central Java. The accident occurred due to leakage of the relief valve. The police are also still investigating the cause of the gas leak in the drilling well of the Dieng Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP).
