JAKARTA - The government has begun to further prepare five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP), namely Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Borobudur in Central Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, and Likupang in North Sulawesi.

To accelerate the development of the tourism industry in Likupang, North Sulawesi, PLN is currently developing a number of infrastructures to support the tourism industry in Likupang.

Regional Director of Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua & Nusa Tenggara (Sulmapana) Business, Adi Priyanto said, development was carried out starting from 5G network infrastructure for a much better internet network experience, several family resorts, marinas, and various other international class tourism facilities. These various facilities require electricity supply to support their operations.

"The acceleration of the construction of public facilities must of course be accompanied by the provision of good electricity infrastructure. Our fast action is part of our commitment to the success of this program," he stressed on the sidelines of a visit to Pulisan Beach, Likupang, quoted Tuesday, March 15.

Adi ensured that PLN would provide the best service to support the Likupang tourist area. This is in line with PLN's transformation through Customer Focused aspirations.

"The Likupang DPSP is the best opportunity for PLN to show the results of its transformation and invite the public to also be able to experience new services and experiences using reliable electricity from PLN," said Adi.

Not only supporting in terms of electricity, PLN through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program PLN Peduli, together with the TNI AL VIII (Danlantamal VIII) Manado Main Base, and the people of Kalinaun Village built a 70-meter bridge in the Komang Island Conservation Area. This collaboration exists as a form of maintaining the mangrove ecosystem in the area which is located close to the Likupang Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

Adi said that mangrove forests have an important role in environmental sustainability. Mangroves have the ability to absorb greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 5 times better than other forest plants.

"Mangroves are also a source of community income through the use of ecotourism and non-timber forest products. For that, of course, PLN is very concerned about the existence of this mangrove forest," said Adi.

Appreciation also came from the Commander of the TNI AL Main Base (Danlantamal) VIII Manado, Brigadier General TNI (Mar) I Wayan Ariwijaya, SE, CfrA. According to him, this mangrove tourism bridge is an extraordinary breakthrough and a creativity that should be appreciated.

"This location will become a new tourist attraction that will attract visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of mangroves, and will later support the economy of the surrounding community," Adi concluded.
