YLKI: People Don't Migrate To Gas Melon

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) appealed to users of 5.5 kilograms of LPG (Bright Gas) and 12 kilograms not to switch to melon gas (3 kilograms of LPG). Because, gas melon is only intended for poor families. This was conveyed by the Chairman of YLKI, Tulus Abadi, to the media, Saturday, March 5.

"Therefore, we from YLKI appeal to non-PSO LPG users not to migrate. This violates the rights of 3 kg LPG users. Because according to the regulations, melon gas is only intended for poor families and micro, small and ultra micro business actors," said Tulus.

Tulus reminded that if people migrate to gas melon, it will reduce the rights of poor families and micro, small and ultra micro business actors. This is because the distribution pattern of melon gas has been determined based on a quota. And the quota has been set from the start.

That's why Tulus is of the opinion that the government should step in. In this case, the government can create a closed distribution system. Not open like now.

“So that no one migrates, because the purchase is really monitored. 3 kilograms of LPG is only for poor families and micro, small and ultra micro business actors. Thus, the quota is safe and in accordance with its designation," said Tulus.

Tulus believes that education that has the right to use melon gas is important for poor families and micro, small and ultra micro business actors. However, he continued, changing the distribution system to a closed one is also important so that the leakage does not get bigger.

On the other hand, continued Tulus, YLKI also understands the increase in the price of non-PSO LPG. In this case, the adjustment of Bright Gas and 12 kilograms of Elpiji is indeed Pertamina's full corporate policy that cannot be intervened by other parties. Especially in the last two years, this type of product has not experienced an increase at all. On the other hand, world gas prices continue to adjust.

Even so, Tulus requested that the impact of the price increase on the community also be taken into consideration for PT Pertamina (Persero). One of them is the potential for user migration from non-PSO LPG and melon gas. This is because the price disparity is very high.

In addition, what is dangerous is the practice of copying, namely from melon gas to Elpiji packaging 5.5 kilograms or 12 kg. “The potential for this practice needs to be carefully anticipated. In addition to illegal acts, it is also very dangerous for the community, "said Tulus.
