Alhamdulillah, OJK Approves Adiwarman Karim And Tuan Guru Bajang To Be BSI Commissioners

JAKARTA – Appointment of high-ranking officials of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk. (BSI) went smoothly in line with the issuance of approval recommendations from the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Citing the disclosure of information, it was stated that OJK agreed to appoint members of the company's board of commissioners as proposed some time ago.

"The decision of the OJK Board of Commissioners explains that, the results of the fit and proper assessment of Mr. Adiwarman Karim and Br. Muhammad Zainul Majdi was approved as the Independent President Commissioner and Deputy President Commissioner of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk.," said the document signed by BSI Corporate Secretary Gunawan Arief Hartoyo, quoted Wednesday, February 9.

For information, the names of the two company officials were based on the results of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) which was held on August 24, 2021 ago. Meanwhile, the decision to approve the authority is contained in letter number SR-3/PB.101/2022 on February 4, 2022 regarding the appointment of the Commissioner of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk.

To note, Adiwarman Karim is a national figure who is considered quite influential in the development of the national Islamic finance industry.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Zainul Majdi is the former Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). He is also a very influential figure in the development of the Islamic economy in the region and is widely known by the Indonesian people as Tuan Guru Bajang.

"This incident (appointment of commissioners) does not have a material impact on the company's business continuity," said Gunawan.
