For Erik Thohir, Young People Have An Important Role For Development

JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir said the younger generation has an important role in the development of the Indonesian nation.

"When I am invited to many universities, I am very happy to attend. None other than to wake Indonesian young people from their sleep," said Erick Thohir in his statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 5.

Erick Thohir explained that Indonesia is predicted to become the fourth largest country in the world economically. According to him, this prediction is not a dream if the younger generation prepares themselves early.

"Because the opportunity doesn't come twice. In the past, toll roads, airports, ports, and others were built. In the future, what will be built are digital infrastructure, data centers, wifi, fiber optics, towers for 5G," said the Minister of SOEs.

This was also conveyed by Erick Thohir in the Advanced Indonesia seminar held by the Student Council of IAIN Ponorogo, East Java, Saturday, February 5.

Erick Thohir said the government is currently focusing on economic equality. He explained one of them through market intervention.

In this case, the Ministry of SOEs will balance the economy. He also likened it to when making coffee.

"Just as my late father taught me, economics is like making coffee. Put hot water in, put coffee in, put sugar in it, stir it evenly so that when you drink it it tastes good," said Erick Thohir.

"Try making coffee, don't stir it. How does it taste? There is thickening. What does it mean? If the economy thickens, it's not good," said SOE Minister Erick Thohir.
