JAKARTA - As the company's commitment to support the reduction of global carbon emissions, PT Bukit Asam Tbk and PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk are exploring the potential for cooperation in the development of solar power plants (PLTS) on the Jasa Marga Group toll road.

This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was carried out directly by Bukit Asam President Director Arsal Ismail and Jasa Marga President Director Subakti Syukur in Merusaka Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday, February 2. Through the signing of the MoU, Bukit Asam and Jasa Marga will explore the potential for PLTS development to support business and operational activities on the Jasa Marga Group toll road.

President Director of Bukit Asam Arsal Ismail welcomed the potential for this collaboration which is expected to bring positive contributions to each party. According to Arsal, this collaboration reflects the implementation of a strategy to achieve Bukit Asam's business transformation by 2026.

"Towards the first stop of Bukit Asam as an energy company in 2026, increasing the portfolio of new and renewable energy-based power plants is one of the business strategies that is increasingly being developed," said Arsal.

On the same occasion, the President Director of Jasa Marga, Subakti Syukur, said that the signing of this MoU is a very good collaboration in initiating the partnership relationship between Bukit Asam and Jasa Marga, and is in line with Jasa Marga's commitment to realizing a sustainable toll road.

"Not only that, this also represents that, as the holder of the largest market share and leader in the Indonesian toll road industry, Jasa Marga has the potential for prospective business development along the Jasa Marga Group toll road corridor as well as opportunities for productive partnerships and cooperation for mutual progress. ," said Subakti.

The signing of the MoU is also a form of collaboration and synergy between State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) in supporting Indonesia's G20 Presidency in 2022, one of which focuses on the issue of reducing global carbon emissions. This effort is also in line with the commitment to implement the Paris Agreement which was ratified by the Government of Indonesia on April 22, 2016.

In addition to the signing of the MoU, on this occasion a PLTS Facility Cooperation Agreement was signed on the Bali Mandara Toll Road between PT Bukit Energi Investama (PT BEI) and PT Jasamarga Bali Tol (PT JBT). Through this collaboration, PT BEI will install 1 set of PLTS with a maximum total capacity of 400 kilowatt peak (kWp) to support PT JBT's business activities and operations.

The installation of this PLTS completes the readiness of the Bali Mandara Toll Road as one of the infrastructures in Bali which is the host province of the G20 Indonesia Presidency in 2022, so that its implementation is expected to be well realized according to the target.
