Muhaimin Asks The Government To Conduct Market Operations To Lower Cooking Oil Prices In North Maluku

JAKARTA – The unstable price of basic necessities in a number of regions has become one of the concerns of the Deputy Chairman of the DPR-RI, Muhaimin Iskandar. During his working visit to Ternate, Sunday, January 30, he asked the North Maluku (Malut) Provincial Government and the Ternate City Government to control the prices of basic necessities, such as cooking oil, following the depletion of stocks in the market.

"I visited the Berkesan Maritime Market in Ternate City to check the price of cooking oil, it turns out that the traders are still selling it at the old price, even the need for coconut oil in various outlets has run out on the market," Muhaimin said as quoted by Antara, during a visit in Ternate.

During his working visit, Muhaimin Iskandar was accompanied by the Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI, Jazilul Fawaid, Expert Staff to the Minister of Industry and Trade and Deputy Mayor of Ternate, and the Secretary of the Ternate City of Industry and Trade.

Muhaimin Iskandar checked the price of cooking oil which was not stable, where traders had been shopping to resell at the old price, for that he said, the government should pay attention to continue to carry out market operations, specifically to lower the price of cooking oil that has been set by the government.

Therefore, he asked to immediately control the soaring prices of basic necessities, especially cooking oil.

This is because high prices add to the burden on the community during the COVID-19 pandemic and the government must carry out strict supervision.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of Ternate, Jasri Usman while accompanying the Deputy Chair of the DPR-RI said the Ternate City Government continued to monitor and conduct raids so that prices were stable and affordable for the public.

Meanwhile, based on Antara's observations in the field, the stock of coconut oil in Ternate City is starting to run low, although there are traders selling it at a price of Rp.

In fact, the central government has set a price of cooking oil at Rp. 14,000 per liter which is subsidized and becomes a government program.
