JAKARTA - PT. Supreme Energy Rantau Dedap (SERD) announced that the Rantau Dedap Phase-1 Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) with a capacity of 91.2 MW on December 26, 2021 has been operating commercially.

Electricity sourced from green energy free of carbon emissions will be channeled through the transmission network owned by PT. PLN (Persero) to be able to support the reliability of electricity supply in the Sumatra Region.

SERD is a joint venture company between PT. Supreme Energy, ENGIE, Marubeni Corporation and Tohoku Electric Power. The Rantau Dedap PLTP is located in Muara Enim Regency, Lahat Regency and Pagar Alam City, South Sumatra Province.

“The Rantau Dedap project is a very challenging geothermal project with a remote location, steep terrain, high elevation (2,600 masl) and construction carried out in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. This again shows a very strong commitment from PT. Supreme Energy and all business partners towards the development of Geothermal Energy in Indonesia in order to support the goals of the Government of Indonesia to achieve the energy transition,” said the founder and Chairman of PT. Supreme Energy Supramu Santosa in an official statement, Friday, January 7th.

PT. Supreme Energy started a preliminary study of the Rantau Dedap geothermal area in 2008, then signed a 30-year Power Purchase Agreement (PJBL) in 2012 and immediately started exploration activities until 2015.

After completing the PJBL amendment process at the end of 2017, and reaching financial close in 2018, construction activities and drilling of development wells began. SERD appointed the PT Rekayasa Industri Consortium and Fuji Electric as the EPC contractor. The total investment for the development of the PLTP Rantau Dedap Phase-1 is more than US$700 million. Currently, Supreme Energy also operates the Muara Laboh Unit-1 Geothermal Power Plant of 86 MW which is managed by PT. Supreme Energy Muara Laboh (PT. SEML) in West Sumatra Province which has been operating since December 2019.

The next two Supreme projects, namely the development of the Muara Laboh Geothermal Unit-2 80 MW, and the exploration of the Rajabasa Geothermal Power Plant 2 x 110 MW in Lampung Province which are managed by PT. Supreme Energy Rajabasa (SERB), is now waiting for the completion of the PJBL Amendment with PT. PLN (Persero).

SEML is a joint venture between PT. Supreme Energy, ENGIE and Sumitomo Corporation. INPEX Corporation has joined since the end of 2021. SERB is a joint venture company between PT. Supreme Energy, ENGIE and Sumitomo Corporation.
