JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) has connected the village electricity program for 13,872 customers in Banten, so the electrification ratio in the province has now reached 99.9 percent.
"This is thanks to the collaboration with the Banten Provincial Government and in particular the Banten Province ESDM Office which strongly supports the connection of rural electricity," said General Manager of PLN Banten Distribution Main Unit, Sandika Aflianto in a press release, quoted from Antara, Friday, December 31.
Sandika explained that his party is working with the local government in building electricity infrastructure in villages and also the cost of installing new electricity for people in need.
During the 2020-2021 period, PLN invested a total of IDR 22 billion for electricity connection programs throughout Banten with the highest number of village electricity connections being in southern Banten which reached 8,367 customers.
"We hope that this assistance will continue in the following years," said Sandika.
The Head of the Banten ESDM Office, Eko Palmadi, appreciated the efforts of PLN which had synergized in distributing electricity to every village in the region.
"Banten people should be able to enjoy electricity, because electricity is in every part of our lives, such as watching television we need electricity, charging cellphones, working, even in the future we will cook and drive vehicles using electricity. I hope all Banten people can enjoy electricity,” said Eko.
Furthermore, he hopes that the well-established synergy between PLN, the Banten ESDM Office, and the Banten Provincial Government can continue to be improved in the future.
According to him, this cooperation will continue until the electrification ratio in Banten can reach 100 percent.
Currently, there are two cities that already have a 100 percent electrification ratio in Banten, namely Tangerang City and South Tangerang. The government's big task that still has to be completed is to electrify the Pandeglang, Lebak, and Tangerang Regencies, because there are still people who do not enjoy electricity.
"Hopefully in the future it can get better and smoother. We work with good intentions to provide people who can't afford rural electricity connections that are provided free of charge," said Eko.
