JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) revealed that the Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) transaction application will be launched in July 2022.

"Currently we are still in the process, we are targeting that later the application (MLFF) will be ready to be launched to the public in July 2022. Of course this requires quite massive socialization," said Head of Operation and Maintenance Sub-Sector I of BPJT Galuh Permana Waluyo, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 28.

Galuh also added that his party is also starting the MLFF pilot project in the third quarter of 2022, so that by December 2022, it will be able to carry out the MLFF implementation in stages.

"Maybe we won't implement all of the toll gates first," said Galuh.

Toll users will be able to make contactless toll transactions in three ways, including through an electronic on-board unit where users don't need to use a device that must be purchased, but simply use a smartphone by downloading an application.

"In the application, it will be integrated with the payment system or method and all vehicle data will be entered into the application," said Galuh.

Furthermore, there is an alternative, namely a special On-Board Unit (OBU), however BPJT will not recommend it because the price is quite expensive. But later, he said, there will be several schemes that can later be used for certain businesses.

"We still recommend the use of electronic OBU, namely smartphones," he said.

Then MLFF can also use an electronic route ticket or one-way ticket which can be used as an alternative, because of the many different characteristics of the Indonesian people.

"Maybe one example is when someone doesn't use toll roads often, they don't need to buy an OBU device or download an application on a smartphone so they can buy tickets directly," said Galuh.
