JAKARTA - During the 2021 Christmas holiday and towards the end of this year, the atmosphere of the Tanah Abang market is still visited by buyers. The manager of Blok A Pasar Tanah Abang Jakarta, Heri Supriyatna, said that the market was quite busy, although some of the stalls did not appear to be operating during the year-end holidays.

"We can't confirm the number of visitors yet. But since last Saturday, it's been a bit crowded because they don't only go to Block A, but also B, F and Metro," said Heri when met in Jakarta, Sunday, December 26.

Heri said that although visitors could be said to be quite busy since Saturday, December 25, the density did not look like normal days because many stalls were not operating due to several traders celebrating Christmas.

It can be seen that the Block A situation at Tanah Abang Market is only crowded from the front to the middle. While at the back and upstairs, it looks deserted and only a few traders spread their wares.

“Some of the traders celebrate Christmas, so on average they don't open their stalls. So if in Block A, there are 7,833 kiosks, only 30 to 40 percent of them are the maximum that open their wares," he said.

Because the situation can still be said to be quite crowded, his party decided to tighten supervision on the implementation of health protocols by deploying 100 personnel to carry out monitoring inside the building.

As an anticipation of ignoring health protocols, which are carried out by traders and buyers, which can cause the spread of COVID-19 to spread.

Meanwhile, to oversee the area outside the building, his party cooperates with the Satpol-PP, the Police and the Transportation Service to ensure that all communities in the area establish command posts at at least four points in the area.

Heri emphasized that his party will continue to ensure that the health protocols continue to be carried out even though the situation at Tanah Abang Market, especially Block A, is still quiet. He hopes that the pandemic will end soon, so that activities can run normally again.

"We as managers continue to prioritize the discipline of health protocols. Whatever it is now or the impact is not like last July. We hope that everyone remains aware of the COVID-19 issue. Don't let yesterday's condition happen again because the impact is very detrimental," said Heri as reported by Antara.
