Sri Mulyani Appreciates Google For Helping To Provide Rp147 Billion Of Financing For MSMEs

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani expressed her appreciation to the international technology company, Google, for its commitment to providing funds of 10 million US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 147 billion for financing domestic micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Moreover, the method taken by Google in channeling funding through digital platforms is expected to expand financial inclusion.

"I warmly welcome that Google as a global private sector is also participating in building a digital economy in Indonesia and especially dedicating to the development and empowerment of MSMEs," he said when speaking at the Google for Indonesia 2021 event as reported by the official website, Thursday. , December 2nd.

The Minister of Finance added that his party also supports Google's steps in increasing digital literacy to two million MSMEs through the Grow with Google program.

"This program develops digital talent and improves internet connectivity with the regional Jakarta Google cloud and submarine cables, as well as financing for MSMEs," he said.

For information, the USD 10 million fund from Google is a commitment to help a number of countries in the world due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic. In its distribution, the owner of the world's most famous site appoints the global nonprofit organization, Kiva, as an extension to the destination countries.

In Indonesia, Kiva has established the Mitra Dhuafa Cooperative and various other local partners as the spearhead in channeling financing to MSMEs.

From the information obtained by the editor, Kiva plans to disburse 3.5 million US dollars as the initial stage of disbursing funds in Indonesia.
