Inaugurating The State Finance Building In Jayapura, Sri Mulyani Highlights The Importance Of Accountability For The Use Of State Money

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati inaugurated the use of the State Finance Building in Jayapura, Papua.

In his remarks, the Minister of Finance said that the construction of this 10-story facility uses state financial instruments. For this reason, he encourages every process that is present to pay attention to the aspect of accountability.

“I know this is the whole process, starting from the acquisition of the land and the management of the permit until it is built with good procurement and governance so that it can finally be completed. I still want to be held accountable for all the use of state money to build the building and all its contents," he said through a virtual channel, Friday, November 26.

According to the Minister of Finance, the central government continues to encourage development in Papua. This is evidenced by the special autonomy (otsus) budget support.

“We all understand that Papua and West Papua and including all regencies and cities can operate as governments because of state financial support. Earlier, the Secretary of State (Regional Secretary) had conveyed about Otsus. But outside of special autonomy, of course, there are many budgets from financial transfers and village funds," he said.

In fact, continued the Minister of Finance, according to the latest regulation, the provincial government in Papua has received additional funding to increase development capacity in the eastern part of Indonesia.

“So we don't just look at the special autonomy itself, although the special autonomy for Papua is quite large and significant. And also because of the new law, there is an increase, if I'm not mistaken, an additional IDR 1 trillion," he said.

For information, the working visit of the Minister of Finance to Papua is the second time he has done. On this occasion, the state treasurer also inaugurated the construction (groundbreaking) of state flats or Rusunara Jayapura for Ministry of Finance employees who were assigned to the area.
