JAKARTA - The government has not confirmed the extension of the provision of interest subsidies for banking customers who are debtors of the People's Business Credit (KUR) program in the 2022 period.

This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto when he was a speaker in a webinar today.

"The provision of this stimulus is flexible because it depends on the development of COVID-19, whichever we continue in the first semester, including People's Business Credit. Of course we will see if it is necessary to continue the incentive (interest) which is 3 percent," he said through the virtual channel BeritaSatu on Monday, November 22.

For information, the KUR interest charged to customers is 6 percent. Due to the pandemic, the government then provided interest subsidy assistance of 3 percent. So, the public only needs to pay 3 percent interest for the period until the end of 2021. This scheme is given to 6.7 million KUR debtors and 13.4 million non-KUR debtors.

Meanwhile, the KUR interest subsidy is included in the 2021 National Economic Recovery Fund (PEN) for the MSME and corporate support cluster with a total budget of IDR 162.40 trillion.

Meanwhile, for the MSME and corporate support clusters in the 2022 PEN, the government only allocated Rp27.48 trillion in funds, a very far decrease from the 2021 PEN.

This cut is also reflected in the overall budget for the 2022 PEN, which is Rp. 321.2 trillion, compared to the 2020 PEN which is Rp. 744.77 trillion.
