JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that there are still several ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet who are not aware of the existence of the Public Service Agency (BLU). But what about the owner, the ministers who don't necessarily know, what is the difference between a BLU and a work unit or BUMN. Those are the three creatures in the state finances,” he said.
The Minister of Finance explained that according to Law Number 1 of 2004 concerning the State Treasury, it has provided a new corridor for government agencies whose main tasks and functions are to provide services to the public so that they can implement a flexible financial pattern.
“Here, BLU's job is to highlight productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. He does not prioritize profit making but rather to serve the community," he asserted.
Furthermore, the Minister of Finance revealed that from a financial mechanism, BLU is still in one state financial channel for recapitulation of asset calculations. This is different from the existing scheme in BUMN.
"The difference with SOEs is that we separate state assets in our balance sheets, while BLUs are in our balance sheets and are still consolidated but not purely following state finances because they have flexibility," he said.
