When Erick Thohir Manut Jokowi And Ignore Anies Baswedan Regarding Formula E Assistance: Sorry, My Assignment From The President

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir confirmed that until now there has not been any step from government companies related to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's plan to hold a Formula E car racing event.

"I haven't had any serious meetings for (Formula E) events," he told the media crew in Jakarta on Saturday night, November 13.

According to Erick, as the command holder of a state company, he only carries out orders based on the prevailing structural hierarchy. For this reason, he is reluctant to be associated with the electric vehicle race event.

"I'm sorry, it's not that I don't want to help, it's the assignment. During the assignment from the President, because the vision is only owned by the President, we are assistants, so we will carry it out," he said.

The Mahaka boss also revealed that so far he has been entrusted with a number of other tasks in advancing the world of sports in the country.

"I have also been assigned to help 17 sports according to the roadmap of the Ministry of Youth and Sports," he said.

Not to mention the big plans for organizing a motorcycle race in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara which will be carried out in the near future.

“Incidentally, we from SOEs have a duty in Moto GP. Imagine, in Mandalika building an airport, building a roadway, yesterday building a circuit. And this Moto GP contract is 10 years. So, I definitely comply with the directives from the central government to focus on Moto GP at this time. Moreover, the Super Bike is already running, I don't have any additional assignments," he explained.

Previously, it was widely reported that City Hall was open to business entities that wanted to join in the success of the Formula E racing event. However, Erick Thohir as Minister of State-Owned Enterprises responded coldly to this. The reason is, he assumes that business entities do not only refer to SOEs because there are still private business entities.

Lately, the implementation of Formula E itself has drawn a polemic due to alleged problems in paying the commitment to the committee as the international license holder.
