Coordinating Minister For Airlangga Encourages Young Generation To Actively Play A Role In Digital-Based Economic Development

JAKARTA - In order to achieve Indonesia's goal of becoming a developed country, economic transformation through digital-based economic development and increasing the number and quality of the manufacturing sector, which is also accompanied by an increase in start-ups or start-ups, must be done.

To support the increase in the number of technology-based startups, the Government has a PPBT Program (Technology-Based Start-ups) in which selected startups will receive a number of funding and coaching incentives. The government also has several potential Science Techno Parks (STPs) spread over a number of areas and also provided incubation for startup businesses in these various STPs so that the innovations produced can be commercialized into mass products.

Start-up founders are today's heroes, because they can help Indonesia maximize the potential demographic bonus that will be experienced in the next 10 to 20 years through the creation of new jobs for Generation Y or Millennials and Generation Z.

"The Indonesian nation needs today's heroes who come from the younger generation, especially to transform in the industrial era 4.0, this is no longer a physical war but by putting forward ideas, strong, critical and positive, and innovative characters/personalities in the new world, namely the digital world. , artificial intelligence, crypto, cloud, and other technology-based innovations," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Wednesday, November 10.

Airlangga said this in his remarks at the Zoominar for the Commemoration of Youth Pledge Day and Heroes' Day with the theme "Heroes of the Industrial Revolution Era 4.0." organized by the Alumni Family of Gadjah Mada University (KAGAMA) Depok in collaboration with Djogja Gotong Royong (DGR)

The younger generation must be ready for changes to become more modern, from manual to instant with the help of sophisticated equipment as well as cyber and automation technology that can simplify people's lives and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of a work environment that is urgently needed by business/industry actors.

Thus, the younger generation is expected to be able to improve their digital skills by becoming digital talents that are needed by the business world and the industrial world, as well as being able to take advantage of their digital talents and act as job creators.

By 2030, Indonesia is estimated to need around 9 million digital talents. The government continues to support efforts to develop digital talent through the National Digital Literacy Movement, Digital Talent Scholarship, and the Digital Leadership Academy. These three programs will help develop digital skills from basic to advanced levels.

The use of digital talent will also serve as an accelerator for entrepreneurs. Digital skills development efforts are projected to contribute IDR 4,434 trillion to GDP by 2030.
