Who Is Novi Rahman Hidayat, Regent Of Nganjuk Who Netted OTT For Allegedly Involved In The Auction Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held a Hand-Catching Operation (OTT) against Regent Nganjuk Novi Rahman Hidayat. He is suspected of being involved in a corruption case in the Nganjuk Regency government. So who exactly is Novi?

Visiting various sources, Novi served as Regent of Nganjuk in 2018. He won the 2018 Nganjuk Regional Election with his partner, Marhaen Djumadi.

The couple was supported by two parties, namely the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan). They became the number one person in Nganjuk after garnering 303,195 votes, defeating Siti Nurhayati-Bimantoro who received 194,310 votes and Desy Natalia Widya-Ainul Yakin who garnered 56,515 votes.

Novi Rahman's Profile

Novi Rahman was born in Nganjuk, April 2, 1980. Novi received her education at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Blitar Islamic University and graduated in 2005. A year later, Novi obtained her Master of Management degree at Kediri Islamic University.

Citing Bisnis, based on E-LKHPN website, Novi Rahman Hidayat has a wealth of Rp116.8 billion. Novi's wealth consists of land in 32 locations worth Rp58.6 billion.

The lands are spread in DKI Jakarta, Tangerang, Ngajuk Surabaya, Kediri, Malang to East Kotawaringin.  Novi Rahman Hidayat is also known to own Toyota Harier, Suzuki Katana, and Toyota Hiace cars with a total of Rp764 million. Other moving assets worth Rp1.2 billion, securities rp32.2 billion, cash and cash equivalents Rp26.4 billion.

Before entering politics, Novi held important positions in a number of companies. These positions include Head of KSP Tunas Artha Mandiri Jatim Region, President Director of Tunas Artha Mandiri, President Director of PT Putra Tunas Artha Mandiri Group, President Director of PT Putra Tunas Artha Mandiri Group, President Commissioner of PT BPR Tunas Artha Jaya Abadi, President Commissioner of PT Putra Mandiri Real Estate, to President Director of PT Putra Mandiri Jaya.

Visiting CNN, Novi is also noted to have served as Chairman of Real Estate Indonesia Kediri period 2010-2015. He also held the chair of Secretary of Perbarindo PBI Kediri for the period 2011-2016, as well as Treasurer Yapindo PBI Kediri for the period 2011-2016.

Unrecognized party

A lot of information mentions that Novi is a cadre of PKB. However, the PKB denied that Novi Rahman Hidayat was their cadre. Secretary of Social Movement and Disaster OF DPP PKB Luqman Hakim said that Novi is not a cadre of PKB while pinning a video link containing Novi Rahman Hidayat's confession about the political party where she lives.

"Together we send a video link on Youtube channel containing the direct recognition of Regent Nganjuk Novi Rahman Hidayat as a cadre of one of the political parties where the political party is not PKB," Luqman said in his statement, quoting Kompas.

In the video, Novi claims she is a cadre of PDI Perjuangan. However, Chairman of DPP PDI Perjuangan Djarot Saiful Hidayat also denied that Novi was a PDIP cadre.

" (Regent Nganjuk) is not a party cadre. If the party cadre has stages, there is a minimum process he has participated in the first level cadreization, it's just jdi kader. Well, he's not," Djarot said.

In a video belonging to MaduTV, Novi claims to be a pdip cadre. He said about it at a PDI Perjuangan Children's Consultation (Musancab) event in Nganjuk Regency on February 27 - March 2, 2021.

"I want to convey officially and actually that I am a cadre of PDIP. I am not a cadre of other parties," Novi said.

Novi Rahman is not the first Nganjuk Regent to be dragged into a corruption case. In 2018, Regent Nganjuk Taufiqurahman dealt with the Prosecutor's Office and kpk. He netted OTT KPK and was ensnared with three different things. Taufiqurahman is also under investigation for two corruption cases at the Attorney General's Office.

Kpk Spokesman at the time, Febri Diansyah, said there were two corruption cases that are being investigated by the Attorney General's Office related to the alleged corruption of the construction of five packages of infrastructure projects. The package includes bridge construction, waterway rehabilitation, road repairs and maintenance. The District Court of Corruption has sentenced Taufiqurahman to seven years in prison.
