Regarding The Private Or Public Sphere, About NTT And Atta-Aurel: Jokowi Is Stuttering, The Country Is Confused

JAKARTA - The presence of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and several other state officials at the wedding of Atta Halilintar and Aurel Hermansyah raised an interesting point of view about the failed government, even to determine priority scales, simply placing themselves in the private and public sphere.

What is highlighted is the question of celebrations that belong to the private sphere which is considered to have taken too far to the public sphere. The arrival of Jokowi and his staff was uploaded to the official State Secretariat account.

The assumption that the question of not being able to distinguish between the private and public domains became increasingly widespread when Jokowi gave a statement of condolences for natural disasters in NTT by not including on behalf of the president. Does this mean that Jokowi is stuttering to distinguish between the private and public domains?

The political observer from Al-Azhar University Indonesia, Ujang Komaruddin, assessed that sometimes President Jokowi's communication likes to be awkward in communicating. "There is a communication split," said Ujang when contacted by VOI on April 6.

When expressing condolences for the natural disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), for example, according to Ujang it should be said in the personal name as well as the president. "It should be done on behalf of the person and the President of the Republic of Indonesia in expressing his condolences for the disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)."

Meanwhile yesterday, through his Twitter account, Jokowi expressed his condolences on behalf of individuals and the Indonesian people. "On behalf of the individual and the people of Indonesia, I would like to express my deep condolences for the victims who died in the disaster," he wrote.

Ujang considered that as the number one person in the Republic, communicating with the people had to be precise and measured both when expressing condolences to the people of East Nusa Tenggara and when attending the Atta-Aurel wedding. "It should be appropriate and measured in communicating with the people," he said.

Previously, the arrival of Jokowi and his staff at the wedding ceremony of Atta and Aurel created controversy. Many public figures have criticized the presence of the head of state at the number one YouTuber wedding event in Indonesia.

Private realm

As we all know, marriage is a private matter that does not need to be spit out too massively in the public sphere. Therefore, the arrival of the President of the Republic of Indonesia at Atta's wedding, which was published by the State Secretariat's official account, invited a lot of criticism.

One of the criticisms came from the celebrity Fiersa Besari. Indeed, he did not explicitly mention the marriage of Atta and Aurel. However, he compared the presence of state leaders in celebrity marriages with permission for marriage receptions which are complicated for ordinary people.

"Permits for public receptions are made difficult, but celeb weddings are attended directly by the leaders of the country," wrote Fiersa. However, Fiersa Besari wrote, he was just a commoner who did not know anything.

This case became even more hectic when Jokowi's invitation was uploaded to the official State Secretariat account. One of those who commented on this was a Comic, Ernest Prakasa.

Ernest replied to the State Secretariat account which displayed photos of the President at the wedding ceremony of the YouTubers with the most followers in the country. "What's the relation with the STATE, huh?" wrote Ernest.

Comic cum director understands how state officials would want to get closer to one of the most influential millennials in Indonesia. However, he could not stop thinking if the event was officially published by the State Secretariat account.

"Atta is one of the most influential millennials in Indonesia. Politicians definitely want to get closer, it's understandable. But if it's also published using the State Secretariat account, I think it's strange," said Ernest.

In line with that, the Executive Director of Indonesia Political Review, Ujang Komaruddin, in the class of a state leader, should be able to distinguish between the private and public domains. "It must be adjusted and distinguished between private and public domains," said Ujang.

"As the number 1 person in this republic, it must be appropriate and measured in communicating with the people. Both when attending the Atta wedding and expressing condolences to the people of East Nusa Tenggara," he concluded.
