The Film Borat 2, Which Is The Criticism Of Sacha Baron Cohen For The Donald Trump Administration

JAKARTA - Actor Sacha Baron Cohen announced that there were no surprises in the Borat 2 film he played. The reason is simple, Donald Trump is no longer the President of the United States.

Borat 2 is a mockumentary comedy film about Borat Sagdiyev (played by Sacha Baron Cohen). He is a journalist from Kazakhstan who makes documentaries about the United States.

"I feel that democracy is in danger," Cohen conveyed his intentions when making the sequel to Borat.

Cohen's goal relates to the end of Trump's term as president of the United States. According to him, Trump and Borat are two characters who are misogynist, racist, and do not care about democracy.

"And I don't really see a goal to do it again. So, yeah, he's (Borat) now locked up and locked up," Sacha Baron Cohen told Variety.

The Process of Making Borate 2 Is Made In Secret

Sacha Baron Cohen has two film projects in 2020: The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. Both films are pursuing release time in 2020 prior to the election for President of the United States. However, because the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, the sequel process for the Borat film had to be stopped.

But Cohen is optimistic about filming amid the pandemic. To that end, the Borat production team is working closely with health experts from Johns Hopkins University to implement strict health protocols. He believes the pandemic and Trump will make the film's message even more memorable.

“This film initially tells about the dangers of Trump and the effects of Trumpism. "What the corona virus shows is the deadly effect it has on the spread of lies and his (Trump) conspiracy theory," said Cohen.

"Borat is a fake character played by me in the real world ... If we make a scene of people taking off their masks, this will be a fake character in the fake world, so the basis of comedy won't work," he continued.

Cohen and the production team shot this film in secret. In February 2020, Cohen dressed up as Donald Trump and interrupted the Conservative Political Action Conference or CPAC. At that time his true identity was not revealed.

Another prank Cohen made was when he led a gun rally in Olympia, Washington in June 2020. He invited the public to sing racist songs. When the protesters realized they had been tricked by Cohen, the atmosphere became chaotic. Cohen and Borat's team managed to leave the scene by ambulance. Because of the bullying, Cohen wore bullet-proof clothing to avoid threats.

Later, Cohen recruited Maria Bakalova to play Tutar Sagdiyev, the son of Borat. Bakalova managed to enter the White House and record secretly. The appearance of Mike Pence, the Vice President of the United States and Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump's lawyer in the film was recorded without their permission.

Reportedly, Donald Trump also appeared in this film but the scenes were cut off and did not go into the final result of this film.

Borat 2 Presents Trump's Key Person

The character Borat is one of the iconic roles that Cohen plays. Originally, Borat was a fictional character that Cohen created for the short F2F skit on the British television channel Granada in 1997. Borat is described as a person who likes to mock politics using vulgar language and attitudes.

In the latest sequel to the Borat film, Borat Sagdiyev is told that he was given a mission by the leader of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev (Dani Popescu) to deliver monkeys to the President of the United States, Donald Trump as an apology from Nazarbayez.

But because he failed to get close to Trump, Borat gave the monkey to US Vice President Mike Pence. To carry out his mission, Borat boarded a cargo ship and arrived in Texas. This is where he realized the monkey he was carrying was dead.

Then Borat was assigned by Nazarbayev to approach Pence and Borat sent Tutar. Then, Tutar carried out the mission disguised as a journalist so he could interview Mike Pence.

As a first step, Tutar approached Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump's lawyer by making an interview fabrication. Giuliani then took him to the room and began to lie down holding his pants. When the audience thought Giuliani wanted to have sex with Tutar, Borat was there to interrupt the two of them.

Giuliani thought the footage in Borat's film was fabricated and at that time his hand only wanted to fix one part of the pants, not to open it.

Cohen said he was worried when he saw this scene. He did not want Bakalova to be caught in a dangerous situation. Because of this, Borat immediately blocked Giuliani. Through Borat, Cohen wants to reveal that Borat's criticism and character are reflected in the figure of Trump and the people around him. Even though he says Borat's character is retiring, it could be that in the future Borat's film comes back to criticize the government.

Trump's Response to Borat's Film

Quoting The Independent, Friday, January 8, Donald Trump called Sacha Baron Cohen a creepy person after being asked by a journalist about Rudy Giuliani's controversial scene in Borat 2. "I don't know what happened. But a few years ago, (Baron Cohen) trying to trick me. " Trump also said Cohen wasn't funny.
