Indosiar And SCTV Owners Attach Omni Hospital, What Are The Prospects?

JAKARTA - PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk or Emtek acquired the shares of PT Sarana Meditama Metropolitan Tbk (SAME). SAME is a company that manages the Omni Hospital network or Omni Hospitals. This is proof that even in the midst of a pandemic, the expansion of this media issuer is unstoppable.

Initially, the company was founded on August 3, 1983 under the name PT Elang Mahkota Komputer and was engaged in the computer supply business. Then, in 1997 Elang Mahkota Teknologi (Emtek) transformed into the entertainment and information industry.

Since its transformation, EMTK has been aggressively expanding its wings in the world of media through a series of acquisitions. In fact, unmitigated, the company under the control of Eddy Kusnadi Sariaatmadja also annexed the ownership of the Salim Group.

In 2002, EMTK acquired PT Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) through PT Surya Citra Media Tbk. (SCMA). Eight years later, the company decided to conduct an initial public offering (IPO).

One year later, EMTK's ambition to dominate the entertainment and information industry has not been stopped. The company annexed PT Indosiar Visual Mandiri (Indosiar) by acquiring the Salim Group's ownership in PT Indosiar Karya Mandiri Tbk (IDKM).

In 2013, EMTK then merged IDKM and SCMA. The subholding company in the content sector, PT Indonesia Entertainment Group, was founded two years later.

Emtek owns the majority of SAME's shares

Based on data on the disclosure of information from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Emtek acquired 4,241,000,000 shares or the equivalent of 71.88 percent of the total. In other words, after the share purchase process, Emtek became the majority shareholder or controlling shareholder of the elite hospital network.

Emtek bought SAME shares at a price of 137 per share. So that the total funds issued by the company for the acquisition amounted to IDR581 billion.

In its official report, Emtek, which is also the parent company of television stations SCTV and Indosiar, said that the company had no affiliation with Omni Hospital prior to the share acquisition.

This acquisition will make the Emtek Group a larger company that has diverse business activities by expanding its business activities in the healthcare service industry in Indonesia. What are the Business Prospects in the Future?

For your information, the health service industry is not a new field for EMTKs. Prior to annexing SAME's shares, the Company was running a business in this field through PT Elang Medika Corpora (EMC).

The EMC has four subsidiaries in the field of health services, namely PT Surya Cipta Medika (SCMed), PT Graha Mitra Insani (GMI), PT Unggul Pratama Medika, and PT Utama Pratama Medika.

Binaartha Sekuritas analyst M. Nafan Aji Gusta Utama said EMTK's acquisition of SAME was aimed at the company's long-term business, especially in the hospital sector.

According to Nafan, EMTK's acquisition of SAME was a good and profitable start for both parties.

"EMTK can also get a positive catalyst. In addition to increasing assets, they can also expand their business portfolio," he said.

Furthermore, Nafan said, by annexing EMC, SAME also benefited because in the future the company could expand the company's market share. According to him, the hospital industry will indeed be one of the sectors that will benefit most next year. This is because the health sector will be prioritized in order to contain the rate of COVID-19 cases.

Moreover, it is known that the COVID-19 vaccination program was also launched by the government in early 2021. In the first phase, the vaccine will be injected into 75 million participants gradually.
