The Police Still Open Opportunities For New Suspects In The AGO Fire Case

JAKARTA - Bareskrim Polri has again named three suspects in the case of the Adhyaksa Corps building fire. They are the parties responsible for supplying top cleaner cleaning fluids and Aluminum Composit Panel (ACP).

However, investigators still open up opportunities regarding the emergence of other suspects. Because, this case is still being explored.

"Of course, we will add more suspects. If there is a violation of the law and violation of the crime, we can re-assign new suspects," said Head of Public Relations of the Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, Friday, November 13.

Originally, the three people who were recently named as suspects included the initials MD who was the top cleaner procurement party, J as the consultant and IS who was the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the Attorney General's Office (AGO).

They are named as suspects based on the results of their case titles and referring to expert statements. This is because all three have been involved in the fire process.

The role of the suspect IS's initials in this case was because he appointed a consultant arbitrarily. In fact, there are several important things that must be done during the referral.

For example, must be experienced. This is because the work of this consultant is related to the installation of Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) on all sides of the building.

"The IS suspect who became the AGO's PPK in choosing a planning consultant was not in accordance with the provisions, choosing a planning consultant who was inexperienced," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Ferdy Sambo.

Meanwhile, suspect J, who is a consultant for PT IN, is said to have not checked the building before installing the ACP. Even after studying his background, he did not have any rich experiences.

"His role was that he did not survey the building conditions first. Then he did not have experience as an ACP planning consultant," he said.

Finally, the suspect MD (formerly MAI) acted as the person who gave the order to buy a top clener brand of dust cleaner. He also borrowed the name PT APM to win the procurement tender at the AGO.

"MD, one of which, borrowed the flag of PT APM. So all of his activities are this MD suspect. Second, he ordered to buy the top cleaner brand of lobby oil," he said.

Total 11 suspects

With these additions, investigators have named 11 suspects. Because on the previous occasion, Bareskrim announced that investigators had named 8 suspects, on 23 October.

Of the 8 suspects, 5 of them were construction workers with the initials T, H, S, K, and IS. They were named suspects for violating the no smoking rule in the personnel bureau hall.

Those who at that time were renovating the Personnel Bureau hall collected the rubbish from their work.

Then, the garbage is put into three polybags or large plastic bags. Including a cigarette tip that is probably still slightly lit.

"All the used paper towels are collected, the used wood is put in there. Including the cigarette is thrown there," said Ferdy.

Then, the suspects left the hall. They came down from the 6th floor of the AGO building.

With the embers in the polybag, it burns other rubbish. A large fire appeared and burned the objects around it.

"(Polybag) is close to thinner, aibon glue and others," he said.

In the end, an even bigger fire burned several parts of the AGO building.

Meanwhile for the other 3, namely, UAM as the foreman, R who is the Director of PT ARM and the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the Attorney General's Office, NH.

The assignment of the suspect to UAM was reasoned because he did not supervise the five masons while working. Meanwhile, R and NH were named suspects for making an agreement to use a dash cleaner cleaning fluid which is said to accelerate the combustion process.

Dozens of Witnesses Examined

Determining 11 suspects was not easy. Investigators must go back and forth to examine witnesses and experts. At least in determining suspects in the first batch, investigators have examined dozens of witnesses.

"About 64 witnesses who have been examined are in the investigation process," said Ferdy.

Meanwhile, for the three people named as suspects in the second batch, investigators did not examine witnesses too much. This is because investigators only need to develop potential and expert witnesses.

However, in this process the investigator does take a long time. About three weeks are needed since the determination of the first batch of suspects.

"The increase in the stats of three witnesses became suspects from the 20-day investigation process that we conducted after the determination of 8 suspects," he explained.

Fire Associated with Legal Process on Other Cases

If it goes far back to the beginning of the fire incident, this case was linked to the handling of the case of alleged gratification of the Supreme Court (MA) fatwa arrangement with the alleged prosecutor Pinangki Sirna Malasari.

The fire incident at the Adhyaksa Corps building was said to have been carried out on purpose. The goal is to remove files and evidence in the alleged corruption case.

In fact, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin through Kapuspenkum Kejagung Hari Setiyono confirmed that in that incident there were no case documents in the burning building. The AGO asked the public to be patient in waiting for the results of the investigation.

"The cause of this fire is still in the process of being investigated by the National Police. Therefore, please be patient and we ask you not to make speculations and irresponsible assumptions," said Hari.

The Adhyaksa Corps building caught fire on Saturday, August 22 at 19.10 WIB. It is suspected that the fire came from the third floor. However, it is not certain what caused the fire to appear.

After burning for nearly 12 hours, the fire finally went out at around 06.28 WIB. It took 65 fire engines including two Bronto Skylift units deployed to extinguish the fire. There were no fatalities in this incident.
