President Jokowi Will Make His First Bilateral Visit During The Pandemic, The Goal Is To Visit The UAE In Early November

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) plans to make his first bilateral visit during the COVID-19 pandemic, namely to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in early November.

"After from Glasgow (Scotland), the President will continue his trip to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. And this is the first bilateral visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia during the pandemic," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi as quoted by Antara, Monday, October 25.

According to Retno, the President will have a meeting with the Crown Prince or Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ) in Abu Dhabi. Then, the President will also go to Dubai and have a meeting with the Emir of Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid (MBR).

"Mr. President is also scheduled to hold a meeting with a number of business entrepreneurs in the UAE," said Retno.

In addition, the President is scheduled to visit the Indonesian pavilion at the Dubai Expo. Foreign Minister Retno said that the Presidents in Abu Dhabi and Dubai would discuss various potential cooperation between the two parties from Indonesia and the UAE.

"Currently, various collaborations at the government to government (G2G) and business to business (B2B) levels are still being discussed and negotiated to be the result of the President's visit to Dubai and Abu Dhabi," said Retno.

Prior to making a bilateral visit to the UAE, President Jokowi will make a working visit to attend various forums and meetings at the Group of 20 (G20) Summit in Rome, Italy, as well as receive the Chair of the G20 for the next one year.

Then, President Jokowi will also attend the Climate Change Summit or COP26 World Leaders Summit on 1-2 November 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland. At COP26, Indonesia will seek to be part of the solution to address the impacts of global climate change.
