PAMEKASAN - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa launched a tough school in Pamekasan, as an effort to build community immunity and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Students from a number of schools were also vaccinated en masse at the launch of the tough school located at the Pemuda Building on Pamekasan District Street.

"We do this as an effort to increase community immunity, one of which is the community in the world of education, namely schools," said Khofifah, in Pamekasan, Sunday, October 24.

The vaccination program launched by the government is one of the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The East Java Provincial Government has special attention to Pamekasan Regency, because this district is one of the districts with a very low percentage of COVID-19 vaccination coverage.

Initially, Pamekasan was one of the districts in East Java that was included in level 1 of the application of Restrictions on the Enforcement of Community Activities (PPKM), but due to low vaccination coverage, Pamekasan was changed to level 3.

Besides Pamekasan, another district on Madura Island with low vaccination coverage, namely Bangkalan Pamekasan District, Sampang and Sumenep Regencies.

"We have coordinated with Pandam V Brawijaya, so that we can help expand vaccination coverage. But for now we are still focusing on Bangkalan Regency, then Sampang Regency, then Pamekasan and Sumenep Regency," said the Governor.

In addition to launching the "Tough School" East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa also handed over food packages to 34 pedicab drivers in Pamekasan Regency.

Meanwhile, based on data from the COVID-19 Task Force, the number of residents who were positive for COVID-19 until October 23, 2021 was recorded as 2,591 people.
