JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit and Ciracas Police have arrested three suspects in the beating that caused the death of victim FS (16), a resident of Centex, Ciracas District, East Jakarta.

The victim died after being slashed by sharp weapons (sajam) types of sickles belonging to the perpetrators with the initials RP, YS and RZS on Jalan Centex, Ciracas District, East Jakarta.

"Initially the victims challenged each other on Instagram social media. Because they challenged each other and met with around 6 suspects, the victim was finally beaten, beaten and hacked with a sickle. Victim FS died at the scene," East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Erwin Kurniawan told VOI, Saturday, October 23.

The police chief explained that the perpetrator and the victim did not know each other before. The commotion was triggered by mocking each other on social media.

"As a result of the Ciracas Police Criminal Investigations investigation, the victim did run and fell. So the perpetrator was slashed several times until he died," said the Police Chief.

After beating the victim to death, the perpetrators fled. Meanwhile, the amateur video of the violent beating was circulating on social media.

"The perpetrator was on the run and an amateur video circulated of the incident. It was recorded and viral on Instagram from the group of perpetrators," he said.

From the results of the investigation into the circulation of the viral amateur video on social media, the police immediately pursued and arrested him.

"The suspects RP, YS and RZS have been arrested. Three sickle blades belonging to the suspects RP, YS and RZS were confiscated by the police as evidence," he said.

As a result of his actions, the suspects RP, YS and RZS were charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code.

While the other three people are still being chased by the police in the field. The identity of the perpetrators has been pocketed by the police.

"We are still looking for other evidence, a golf club. We hope that the other three perpetrators who are still at large will surrender before members of the field take decisive action," he said.
