Attractions In Garut Closed Again Due To PPKM Level 3

GARUT - Tourist attractions in Garut Regency, West Java are again closed to the public because they are entering Level 3 of the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Based on the Ministry of Home Affairs at Level 3 like that (tourism is closed), we are waiting for the Regent's Circular", said Head of the Garut Regency Tourism and Culture Office, Budi Gan Gan, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 5.

Garut Regency, which previously implemented PPKM Level 2, allowed tourist destinations to be opened to the public on the condition that they comply with health protocols such as limiting visits, not crowding, and always wearing masks.

The policy for implementing PPKM Level 3, he said, was the decision of the central government, local governments only followed these rules, such as closing tourist attractions to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Now being discussed, a circular letter will be submitted, based on the Minister of Home Affairs at Level 3, the provisions are clear", he said.

Budi revealed that the reason for Garut to return to PPKM Level 3 was the indicator assessed from the level of vaccination, no longer from the level of outbreak transmission or the application of health protocols.

In West Java, said Budi, only Banjar City and Pangandaran Regency have implemented PPKM Level 2 because the population is small, so the vaccination can be carried out faster than in other regions.

"The indicator going up to Level 3 is not a problem of transmission but related to vaccines, in West Java it is at Level 2, namely Pangandaran and Banjar because the area there is a small population", he said.

Budi added that since PPKM Level 2 was implemented, activities in tourist areas in Garut have been quite busy while still implementing health protocols.

But just recently, he said, tourist attractions in Garut must be closed again based on the rules in PPKM Level 3.

"I'm also sorry that I just got up and it's closed again", said Budi.
