JAKARTA – The successful handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bali has made DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan feel proud. He likened the control of COVID-19 cases in the capital city to the cooperation of all parties, as in the Avengers movie, which has many heroes.
"This is because collaboration, cooperation, cannot be done alone. So, this is the Avengers, not a single hero, there are many heroes," said Anies when giving a speech for the Jakarta Youth Youth Service Month in Central Jakarta, Sunday, September 26.
According to him, controlling COVID-19 in Jakarta involves many parties, including the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government, the police, the army, and other parties including the private sector and community organizations including youth organizations. The efforts made are population mobility control and vaccination.
"We meet two, three times a week with the Provincial Government, Regional Military Command, Polda for a month, almost every day everywhere together, the mobility of the population is controlled," he said, as quoted by Antara.
Anies said that the current condition of Jakarta was under control from the COVID-19 pandemic because positive cases reached 0.7 percent or already below the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of five percent.
This means, he continued, out of 100 people who were tested for COVID-19, there was only one who was likely to be positive for COVID-19.
Although the percentage of positive cases has decreased, the examinations have not been lowered and remain high at 11 times the WHO standard. The result, he continued, was that the number of positive COVID-19 cases was recorded low even though the number of tests remained high.
Based on data from the DKI Health Office as of Saturday, September 25, in the past week, 117 thousand people underwent a PCR swab test, the result was that the percentage of positive cases was only 0.9 percent.
