Elite Housing Security Guards Who Raided Residents' Houses To Ask For Allotments, Finally Named As Suspects

JAKARTA - The case of alleged extortion by 17 security personnel at the Permata Buana housing estate, Kembangan, West Jakarta, which recently occurred has entered a new phase. The West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit has recently named one suspect who instigated the action.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the West Jakarta Metro Police, Police Commissioner Joko Dwi Harsono, said that there were 16 security guards being investigated as well as complex security service companies and RW heads.

Then one security guard with the initials WH was found who was the boss of the other security guard and the brain behind the riot.

"He ordered. The suspect is charged with Article 335 of the Criminal Code," Joko said in his statement, Saturday, September 25.

Previously reported, a commotion occurred in a housing complex in Kembangan, West Jakarta which went viral on social media. The commotion occurred between a number of security guards and residents of the complex.

Based on the video description circulating on social media, the commotion began when security guards blocked one of the cars carrying goods belonging to the residents of the housing estate. Then the security guards stopped and asked the driver for money.

The alleged extortion action was then reported to the Kembangan Police and the West Jakarta Metro Police. The perpetrators of the alleged extortion were also detained by the police at the West Jakarta Police Headquarters.

When confirmed, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kembangan Police, Police Commissioner Adjutant Ferdo Alvianto, confirmed the incident. However, the handling of the case is at the West Jakarta Metro Police.

"It is handled by the West Java Police, not by us (Kembangan Police). The handling is at the West Java Police. Because it is crowded, we direct it to the Resort Police," he said when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, September 21.
