JAKARTA - Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, directly monitors vaccinations in densely populated settlements in Tanah Sereal Village, Tambora District, West Jakarta.

"I came to pick up the ball to Tanah Sereal because I heard that not all residents here in this residential area have had the opportunity to vaccinate," said Puan, quoted by Antara, Saturday, September 25.

In the vaccination activity titled "Tanah Sereal Rises Towards the Green Zone" which targets 1,000 residents, Puan was accompanied by Deputy Chair of Commission IX of the DPR Charles Honoris, Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General M Fadil Imran, and Jaya Regional Commander Maj. Gen. Mulyo Aji.

In addition to inviting vaccinations, Puan asked local residents to continue to follow health protocols, even though they live in very dense settlements.

"Will this COVID-19 go away soon? No one has said that this disease will disappear soon. Conditions abroad are also like this. Therefore, let's all work together to vaccinate and continue to follow health protocols," said Puan

In this vaccination activity, Puan also had a dialogue with the Head of Tanah Sereal and the Tambora sub-district head who reported on the progress of vaccination and handling of COVID-19 in their area.

The first dose of vaccination in the village and sub-district is more than 70 percent, although the second dose is still around 25 percent.

"The village head who has not been vaccinated, what is the reason?" Puan asked village head Suharti.

"Beyond those who have comorbidities, residents do not want to be vaccinated because they are afraid due to many hoaxes, some said if they were injected with Astrazeneca they would immediately get sick. But we continue to socialize that it is not true," said village head Suharti.

"We in Tambora have only 5 COVID-19 cases. Thank God, even though we live in dense settlements, the lowest cases are in West Jakarta," said the Tambora sub-district head.

After monitoring the vaccination, Puan then entered the narrow alleys where Tanah Sereal residents lived. While having a dialogue with the residents, mostly women, Puan gave them a number of food aid packages.

A total of 1,000 aid packages were given to residents of Tanah Sereal in this activity. "Thank you, Ms. Puan, may the help be blessed," said Sopiah (43).

During the dialogue with residents, Puan received complaints from residents who lost their jobs and their children were bored because they had to study online.

"That's why we have to work together, maintain health procedures and invite neighbors to be vaccinated. So that these difficult times pass quickly," said Puan, echoed by residents.
