JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives' Honorary Court (MKD), Trimedya Panjaitan, admitted that he was surprised by the Corruption Eradication Commission (MKD) who picked up Azis Syamsuddin, Friday night, September 24.

Azis Syamsuddin is currently the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives in charge of legal politics and security.

"I was a bit surprised because this afternoon I was following the news on television, including that there was a letter from Mr. Azis Syamsudin stating that he was self-isolating and could only be examined on October 4", Trimedya said, quoted from the Youtube channel @KOMPASTV, Friday night.

Trimedya added that the board of ethics and honor would respect all legal steps taken by the KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission) with the examination of Azis. This examination certainly shows that the KPK is working seriously and professionally in eradicating corruption.

"We respect the law enforcement work carried out by the KPK. It shows that I think the KPK is serious in handling corruption cases", explained the PDI-P politician.

For information, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, was forcibly picked up by the KPK. Azis was silent when he was brought into the KPK.

Azis was seen wearing a long-sleeved batik shirt and wearing a mask, Friday, September 24. Azis made no statement. He was taken in a KPK car numbered B 8286 NV.

Previously, KPK chairman Firli Bahuri confirmed the forced pick-up of Azis Syamsuddin. According to Firli Bahuri, Azis Syamsuddin was picked up at his house. However, he did not specify the official residence or private residence of the Golkar politician.

"AS (Azis Syamsuddin) has been identified. Thank God it has been found", Fili told reporters, Friday, September 24.
