Out Of Poverty, Social Minister Risma Encourages Students To Have Future Reading Ability

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini encourages students to be able to read the future so that they are able to make changes that can finally get out of various social problems including poverty.

"Therefore, our academic community must be able to learn to read the future, we can't hang on to the present, like this and then we do the same thing as yesterday. We will be the losers," said Social Minister Risma when she was a keynote speaker at iDACON 5th International Da'wah Conference 2021 which will be followed online in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, September 23.

As a ministry whose task is to deal with the problem of poverty, an in-depth analysis is needed to address poverty. From this analysis, various programs were made, one of which was the Young Fighters Program.

The program is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) and the Ministry of Religion to absorb students in an effort to accelerate the alleviation of social problems in Indonesia.

The fifth semester students will be trained and given the opportunity to seek hands-on experience in the field through the program that focuses on social entrepreneurship.

"We train students to become entrepreneurs by analyzing their environment. We will guide them for one semester with 20 credits in collaboration with the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Education and Culture," said Risma.

The aim of the program, said Risma, is to train students from an early age to deal directly with the community, to train them how to survive in any conditions.

He gave an example, during the current pandemic, where various aspects have fallen, including the economy, students are trained to analyze how to rise from adversity.

In the program, students act as agents of social change, through problem mapping, identification of alternative solutions, formulation of the best solutions, resource and achievement planning, mobilizing community elements, implementation and reporting and impact measurement.

In addition, students will be given funds for transportation and operations as well as given the opportunity to make projects and costs for meetings.

"I believe this is very interesting. Our initial quota for 5,140 students is currently 1,580 students who have registered, there are still eight days left," said Risma.
