Mas Minister Nadiem Praises Jokowi's Son: Mas Gibran Is Very Pro-PTM

JAKARTA - Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim came to Solo City to see the implementation of Face-to-face Learning (PTM) there.

Nadiem's arrival occurred on Monday, September 13 yesterday. He was also accompanied by the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming when he came to SMAN 4 Surakarta and SMPN 1 Surakarta.

Gibran Rakabuming said that his party supports face-to-face learning (PTM), but its implementation must be adjusted to the conditions and health protocols for the prevention of COVID-19.

"We in Solo are very pro-PTM, but it depends on the situation. Yesterday when Solo was given the opportunity to go down to level 3, we immediately directed us to immediately conduct PTM because this cannot be delayed for long," said President Jokowi's eldest son. .

Gibran appealed to teachers to continue to implement strict health protocols in PTM activities. Because, the risk of being infected with COVID-19 is still lurking. Thus, discipline in the application of health protocols is absolutely necessary.

"Once again, we are not talking about young or old, everyone can get COVID. I also need the support of the parents of these students, so that the health protocols are super super strict, especially for schools, because these children are the most vulnerable children. we protect it and we prioritize it the most,” said Gibran.

Minister Nadiem Makarim appreciated the mayor's support in overseeing the implementation of PTM in Surakarta City.

“I really appreciate the Mayor, who really encourages the implementation of PTM. Mas Gibran is very pro-PTM," he said.

Nadiem appreciates the initiative of principals, teachers, and stakeholders in holding activities both outside and inside the school environment. Including, efforts to convince parents so that their children are allowed to do PTM. He also welcomed the efforts of the school committee, which has played an active role in countering existing disinformation and misinformation.

On this occasion, Nadiem introduced the Motivating School Program launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture. He explained that the program must make changes to the curriculum, learning aspects, and work culture, including changing the assessment pattern.

"The hope is that schools in Indonesia are able to become Driving Schools, namely schools that encourage change," said Nadiem.

After reviewing the implementation of the PTM, Nadiem visited the renovation of the student practice room and the student theory room at SMKN 2 Surakarta.

It is said, SMK is an entrepreneur that trains talented young people to produce goods and services, as well as become MSMEs that provide goods and services needed by the market.

"We need a holistic collaboration, where the industry leads the process of learning the practitioner curriculum and improving the competence of teachers," said Nadiem in a Public Relations release of the Surakarta City Government.

In line with the current national vision of strengthening Vocational Schools by the Ministry of Education and Culture, he added, revitalizing vocational education is one of the priorities in the independent learning program, in addition to building revitalization followed by revitalization of software, human resources, and the teaching and learning process.

Nadiem also explained the latest program from Kemendikbudristek which is a continuation of the SMK center of excellence, namely the Vocational Center of Excellence. This program is a comprehensive breakthrough aimed at responding to the challenges of SMK conditions. The hope from this program is to be able to bring mentors to other vocational schools.
