Deputy Spokesperson for the Bekasi Regency COVID-19 Task Force, Masrikoh, said Thursday that one of his residents in the northern Bekasi area was known to have been exposed to the virus, which was first discovered in India after undergoing an examination in Jakarta.

"We were informed by the Ministry of Health that there were residents who were exposed to the new variant", she said in Cikarang as reported by Antara, Thursday, June 17.

Currently, the patient is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jakarta, while his family is self-isolating in the Bekasi Regency area.

Based on the search results, the resident was exposed after visiting his family's residence in Jonggol, Bogor. After returning from Jonggol, the resident was confirmed positive for the new variant of the coronavirus.

"He went to his family's place in Jonggol, back from there it was confirmed positive, the results were declared as a new variant", he said.

Masrikoh said three people were exposed, namely husband, wife and child. Currently his wife is self-isolating in the northern area of Bekasi Regency while two others are undergoing treatment in Jakarta.

"So this family has two houses, apart from in Jakarta as well as in Bekasi Regency, but the ID card is DKI Jakarta", she said.

Masrikoh asked the public to maintain immunity and apply strict health protocols by always wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility.

"If it is not urgent and urgent, it is better to stay at home. Residents must continue to be disciplined in implementing strict procedures and we continue to try to optimize 3T (tracking, tracing, and treatment) as well as mass vaccination", she said. (KR-PRA).
