Israel Attacks Lebanese Village Again After Rome Talks

JAKARTA - Israeli soldiers shelled villages in southern Lebanon with artillery and airstrikes on Sunday (9/8), while drones dropped incendiary munitions that sparked massive fires that burned down the gardens.

"Israeli planes attacked the Mansouri settlement, while artillery fired at the Ali al-Taher hills, the area between Zawtar and Maifadoun, and Mansouri's land in southern Lebanon with heavy artillery shells," the source said, quoted by Sputnik, Monday, August 10.

Israeli drones dropped incendiary munitions that triggered fires that engulfed farms and mountainous areas in the Western Bekaa District, from Niha Village to Kfar Houneh.

Another drone dropped explosives on the Ali al-Taher ridge area.

According to the source, firefighters are still trying to put out the fire in difficult terrain.

Lebanon and Israel reached a framework agreement in Washington on June 26 that includes a full ceasefire and the restoration of Lebanese army control over the country's southern region, subject to Hezbollah disarmament.

Talks on the mechanism for implementing the agreement continued in Rome on August 6-7.

Despite this, Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue almost daily.

Israel maintains a military presence in southern Lebanon, which has led to the displacement of most of the local population.
