BOGOR - Thousands of Bogor City residents poured out to attend the 11th Red and White Festival (FMP) series in 2026. One of the main agendas is the Red and White Flag Kirab which stretches along 500 meters from the Kujang Monument across Jalan Otto Iskandar Dinata (Otista), Jl. Ir. H. Juanda, Jl. Jend. Sudirman, to Pusdikzi, Bogor City, Sunday, August 9.

The five flags, each 100 meters long, represent the values of Pancasila as the basis of the state and become a symbol of the spirit of unity and love for the country.

Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim said the implementation of the FMP, which has entered its 11th year, has become a tradition that continues to strengthen the commitment of the people of Bogor City in maintaining nationalism and patriotism.

"First, this is a tradition that has been built from Bogor and has been going on for the 11th time. This strengthens the commitment of all of us, the people of Bogor, to always awaken a sense of nationalism, patriotism, and of course continue to build love for the country and the nation," said Dedie Rachim.

He said that this year's FMP series was quite dense. Since morning until afternoon, various activities have been carried out, including the raising and lowering of flags involving various elements of the Bogor City community.

"God willing, it will be a glue for the people of Bogor City to continue to love and love the country and the nation," he said.

According to Dedie Rachim, FMP is a legacy of Bogor figures who have a vision far ahead in instilling national values. Therefore, these values must continue to be passed on to future generations.

"This means that we must also prepare the next generation who we must pass on these national values," he said.

In addition to strengthening the sense of nationality, Dedie Rachim sees that FMP also has a positive impact on the movement of the community's economy. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of participants who come from various regions.

"Starting from children, students, universities are mixed together with people from various backgrounds. Everyone looks happy in order to enliven Independence Day. This also turns out to have an economic impact," he explained.

Dedie Rachim said that a number of guests from outside the region were also present at the event, such as from Bandung, Samarinda, to Medan.

"God willing, this will also stimulate the economy," he added.

A number of things that make it different from the previous year's FMP are a series of five red and white flags with a total length of 500 meters involving thousands of participants.

"This 11th FMP is special, because there are five series of flags, one flag is 100 meters long. The committee alone is about 3,200 people, outside the community who participate in the streets. So this is different from previous years, the series is longer," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryatman, who was present on behalf of the Governor of West Java, expressed his appreciation to the Bogor City Government (Pemkot) and the organizers of the 11th FMP.

"On behalf of the Governor of West Java, we express our highest appreciation and appreciation to the Bogor City Government and the committee that has carried out a cool activity called the 11th Red and White Festival," he said.

According to him, FMP is not only a symbolic activity, but a real form in reviving the spirit of the struggle of the nation's predecessors.

"This is extraordinary, because it is not only symbolic, but how we revive the spirit of struggle that our predecessors have done until this nation is free," he said.

He added that if the heroes had fought to win independence by risking their lives and bodies, then today's generation of successors have the duty to fill independence with the same spirit.

"If in the past the heroes won independence, then now our task is to fill independence. But the spirit must be the same, the representation is red and white, the spirit of struggle, the refusal to give up to bet. A life that is not at stake will not be won," he said.

He emphasized that the current development challenge is how all parties together improve the welfare of the community, including through efforts to reduce poverty, reduce unemployment, and improve health and education quality.

"This is the focus of the West Java Governor to improve the welfare of the community towards a special West Java," he concluded.
