JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI welcomes the government's steps through the Ministry of Finance in optimizing the management of state funds through the Balance of Budget (SAL) fund placement instrument.
This policy reflects the fiscal and financial sector synergy in maintaining the liquidity stability of the banking system while strengthening the intermediation function to support national economic growth.
BRI President Director Hery Gunardi said that state cash management instruments such as SAL fund placement have a strategic role in supporting financial system stability while strengthening the bank's capacity to optimally carry out its intermediation function.
"BRI supports the government's steps in optimizing the management of state funds through the placement of SAL funds. This policy provides liquidity support for the banking industry so that banks can carry out their intermediation functions more optimally while still prioritizing the principle of prudence," said Hery.
According to Hery, maintaining liquidity is an important prerequisite for banks to continue to channel healthy credit to productive sectors. With adequate liquidity support, banks have greater room to meet the financing needs of the business world without neglecting asset quality and risk management.
"For BRI, the liquidity support will be optimized to strengthen the distribution of quality credit, especially to the real sector, including to MSMEs, which have a high economic impact. Our focus remains on productive financing so that it can create a multiplier effect in the form of increased business activity, job creation, and strengthening the community's economy," explained Hery.
As a bank with the largest SME financing portfolio in Indonesia, BRI will continue to direct credit expansion to sectors that are the main drivers of the national economy, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), agriculture, trade, processing industries, and other productive sectors.
Until the end of the first quarter of 2026, BRI managed to disburse credit of IDR 1,562 trillion, and the SME segment remains the main pillar in BRI's credit portfolio, with a total disbursement of IDR 1,211 trillion.
The synergy between fiscal policy and the financial sector is an important factor in maintaining the momentum of national economic growth amid global economic dynamics. Therefore, BRI will continue to support various government policies aimed at maintaining the stability of the financial system while strengthening financing capacity for the real sector.
"BRI believes that the synergy between the government and the banking industry is an important foundation in encouraging sustainable economic growth. Through prudent liquidity management and quality credit distribution, we will continue to increase BRI's contribution as a development agency that supports national economic growth, expands financial inclusion, and improves people's welfare," concluded Hery.
On Tuesday, August 4, 2026 in Tangerang, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said that he would open the opportunity to extend the placement period of the Balance of Budget (SAL) funds in the State-Owned Bank (Himbara) until next year.
