Corruption Case for Street Lights, 8 Palembang DPRD Members Investigated by the Prosecutor's Office

PALEMBANG - The Palembang District Attorney's Office, South Sumatra, has examined eight members of the Palembang DPRD regarding the transportation department's streetlight case, which was sourced from the 2025 Amendment APBD.

Head of the Palembang District Attorney's Office, M Ali Akbar, said the eight members of the DPRD were not mentioned by name or initials, because his party prioritized the principle of presumption of innocence in uncovering the case.

"Currently, we have examined 69 witnesses, including eight members of the Palembang DPRD," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 5.

As for the witnesses who were asked for information, he said, they included the former Head of the Palembang City Transportation Office, the camat, lurah, to the DPRD members.

Although it has examined dozens of witnesses from various elements, the Palembang District Attorney's Office has not named a suspect in the case.

The investigation team is still continuing to investigate all witness statements to uncover indications of budget irregularities for maintaining street lights in the capital of South Sumatra Province.

Meanwhile, in the case, his party is still waiting for the results of the calculation of losses in the case, which is carried out by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency.

He emphasized that he would investigate all parties suspected of being involved in the case.
