Police Arrest Suspected Man for Mutilasi in Depok

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya has arrested a man with the initials S (26) who is suspected of being the perpetrator of the murder and mutilation of the victim whose body was found inside a sack in Tanah Merah, Pancoran Mas Village, Depok City. Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Budi Hermanto said the perpetrator had been secured and was currently undergoing intensive examination.

"The perpetrator has been successfully secured. Currently, investigators are still investigating the motive for the murder and tracing the whereabouts of other evidence related to the case," Budi said in his statement, Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

The victim is known as Kunaefi (51), a resident of Bojong, Pondok Terong Village, Cipayung District, Depok City. Although the victim's identity has been confirmed, investigators are still completing the investigation process to reveal the entire chronology and motive behind the murder.

Budi also revealed that Kunaefi's body was first known after a resident burned a sack that was previously thought to contain only garbage in the Tanah Merah area, Kapling Depkes, Pancoran Mas Village, Pancoran Mas District, Depok City, Friday, July 24, 2026.

"It started on Friday, July 24, 2026 at around 07.00 WIB, a witness saw a sack at the location and thought the sack contained garbage so he did not suspect anything. The existence of the sack was then reported to his brother," said Budi in his statement, Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

When the sack began to burn and partially melted, witnesses saw human body parts inside and immediately reported the findings to the local Bhabinkamtibmas.

Head of the Depok Metro Police AKBP Made Gede Oka said the victim was then evacuated to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for identification and forensic examination.

"Our victims were evacuated and sent to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for initial treatment, including investigating their identities," said Made Gede Oka.

He added that investigators were still trying to find the body parts of the victim that had not been found and were waiting for the results of the autopsy to determine the cause of death.

"We are still investigating. For external injuries, we will be able to answer after the autopsy process that we are conducting with the forensic doctor team at Kramat Jati Hospital," he explained.

According to Made, investigators are also continuing to collect evidence and examine a number of witnesses to complete the evidence in the case.

"We are still collecting evidence and asking witnesses for information to uncover the case," he said.
