Israel arrests 630 Palestinians in West Bank during July

JAKARTA - The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) stated that the Israeli occupation authorities detained 630 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, during July.

The arrests, which target various layers of Palestinian society, including children, women, and former prisoners, are part of a systematic arrest campaign that has continued and intensified since the start of the genocide on October 7, 2023.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the organization said the total number of detentions in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, had exceeded 25,000 since the beginning of the genocide, reported WAFA (5/8).

This happened amid the continuation of the daily arrest campaign which is one of the main means of Israeli aggression against Palestinians.

The organization further said that this detention campaign was accompanied by an increase in crimes and violations, including on-site interrogations, night raids on houses accompanied by violence, systematic destruction of property, and attacks on prisoners and their families through beatings, threats, and insults.

The PPS also reported cases of kidnapping of family members, theft of money and personal belongings, and executions in the field that continue to occur, which are described as one of the most tangible forms of ongoing aggression against Palestinians.

The town of Tell, in the Nablus governorate, was one of the most prominent examples of this escalation during July. The occupation forces, along with attacks by illegal settlers, carried out massive raids, arrests, and interrogations in the field.

This action was accompanied by attacks on residents as well as the destruction of houses and properties, as part of the policy of collective punishment and the continued escalation against Palestinians in the West Bank.

PPS noted that the increase in illegal settler attacks had expanded the scope of detention, especially in villages and cities that were the target of settlement activities. In these areas, dozens of Palestinians were detained during repeated attacks by illegal settlers carried out under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces.

Regarding the situation of Palestinian prisoners, the organization stated that the number of prisoners languishing in Israeli occupation prisons had exceeded 9,400 by the beginning of August 2026.

Among them are about 370 children and 92 women, while the number of administrative detainees reaches 3,198 people.

The PPS also added that 1,358 prisoners from the Gaza Strip were detained with a status set by Israel as "illegal combatants" (*unlawful combatants*).

The agency stressed that the Israeli prison system continues to increase systematic violations against prisoners through policies of torture, starvation, denial of access to medical treatment, and detention in isolation cells.

His party warned about the continued spread of disease and outbreaks due to harsh detention conditions, amid Israel's continued actions to prevent the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from continuing to visit prisoners and denying their basic rights, which increasingly increase the threat to their lives every day.
